These are some of the campgrounds we’ve stayed at. They are not particularly in order. When I started this blog, the main purpose was just to document campgrounds for our own personal use. I got a late start but hopefully, we will be able to add to this frequently. Most of the pictures from the areas we’ve visited are in the Gallery. If you have any questions about a particular campground feel free to ask me in the comments section. Thank you for viewing!

Charleston, SC and James Island
We decided to extend our trip to Edisto Island this week by stopping and spending a couple of nights here in Charleston at James Island County Park. This park is a beautiful place once you get to it. It took us about 4 hours to drive from where we live in Southport, NC but it […]

Kinston, NC/Newport News Trip – part 1
Why did we plan a trip in the heat of summer? The month before we left, it rained and rained and rained. We had more rain on record for the month of July in Southport, NC than it has had in years. We were quite pleased when we looked at the weather reports for our […]

Mayberry Campground – Mt. Airy, NC
We just left there today and only stayed one night as planned. The park is located about 5 miles from Mt. Airy but easy to get to. When we got there Bill Clemmons RV out of Winston Salam was set up with a traveling RV store. That was kind of nice it being right there […]

Raleigh State Fairgrounds Camping
Raleigh State Fairgrounds Our son landed in Raleigh, NC for business on Monday for a week long stay. Because Raleigh is only 2-1/2 hrs away from us, and we haven’t seen him since last fall, we decided to make the trip for a short visit. We knew we couldn’t take too much time away from […]

Honey Bear Campground, Boone, NC
Honey Bear Campground We stayed here in October 2017. The pictures shown on their website I think were taken when there were more campers around. While we were there, it was recovering from a flood. We got there the night after they had torrential rains. Some campers left early and some moved to different spots. […]
Holly Bluff Campground – Asheboro, NC
Holly Bluff Campground Only stayed here one night coming home from Boone, NC. We wanted to stay a little later in the day in Boone so we scrambled to find a spot to camp half way between Boone and our home (Southport, NC). Oh my…. we got here late in the day and I was […]

Lakewood RV Resort – Flat Rock, NC
Lakewood RV Resort We really enjoy staying here. It’s an all adult community (55+) but I did see some grandchildren running around. We’ve stayed here about 4 times and each time we really like the atmosphere. Maybe it’s because we are older and we like to hang with the older crowd lol. We stayed here […]

Douthat State Park, Millboro, VA
Douthat State Park – Millboro, VA (White Oak Campground) We loved this state park in northern Virginia. On the way there we were directed to take a small road that went up and down pretty steep grades through a mountain (thanks google). We ended up behind a semi that was literally going about 5 mph […]

Lee State Park – SC
Lee State Park We stayed here only 1 night but told ourselves we would come back when we had more time. We were on our way to Asheville in October and it was only 2-1/2 hrs from home. This seemed like a little unknown gem. We got there on a Wednesday in the early afternoon […]

KOA Wytheville, VA
KOA Wytheville, VA We usually stay here on our way to and from Ohio. It’s a easy in and out off the interstate. Despite this site being so close to the interstate, we hardly hear any noise from it. It has really nice facilities and I usually do our laundry here since it’s the last […]

Lebanon Ohio KOA
Lebanon Ohio KOA We stayed here 2 times. Once around Thanksgiving and then again in the Spring. We moved from this area (Monroe, OH) a little over 2 years ago and still have family we need to go up and visit. Actually, this is the main reason we started camping. Our son lives in Cincinnati […]
