Quake Hold – Museum Putty

Quake Hold is a product I found out about on a FB group I’m in.  I think they were talking about items shifting around if they left it out on counters when they traveled.  I was skeptical when I was reading the great reviews, but have since become a believer.

My story…. I didn’t originally buy this for our camper.  I originally bought this for our home.  My husband plays in a band and on those nights when he has to go practice he carries out a lot of music apparatuses from his music room to his truck.  I recently bought a new lamp for an end table that I had placed a few feet from his music room.  One night when he was going out to practice, his keyboard bag knocked it over and shattered it.  Yes, I was upset but it was only a lamp.  Things can be replaced….and that’s exactly what I did  (It wasn’t that expensive).   This time I decided to give this Quake Hold a try.  When I first tried it I didn’t think it was going to work.  I followed the instructions and put a few globs under the lamp.  I wasn’t too impressed at first.  It didn’t seem to hold.  Then I just left it for a while and figured it was better than nothing.  About a week later I was dusting and was going to lift the lamp to dust under it.  I almost had forgotten about this Quake Hold.  I went to lift the lamp and it wouldn’t budge without some effort…. I then became a believer.

This is how I use it now in my Minnie….

This is the basket that I leave on the table.  Yes, it rides on the table without going anywhere.  This basket comes in really handy as it holds our salt & pepper, napkins, plastic silverware and sweetener.  I love when I sit down to eat it’s always there.  I don’t have to find a place for these items and they are always handy.

I only put a few globs on it and it sticks.  I was sort of surprised how well it sticks to a rough basket bottom, but it seems to work.  Last weekend when we had our granddaughters and had to make the table into the bed, the basket easily came off (with a little effort) and I just picked up the globs and used them again when we put the table back up.

I also keep a basket on the counter with coffee supplies (Aeropress, coffee, cups, filters) in it. This doesn't budge while traveling either. Love not having to get this out and put it away at every stop. We stop frequently to make coffee while at rest areas or along the road. I use the gas stove to heat water and everything is nice and handy for the coffee.

We use this hot water heater a lot. I don't keep the kettle itself on the counter (I put it in the sink) while traveling, but I do leave it's base on the counter. One little glob of Quake Hold keeps this right where I need it.

We keep a small de-humidifier and lamp on our night stand in our 2401rg. Both items have a little glob of Quake Hold under them. I use to put the lamp away all the time, but it was kind of difficult to keep the shade from getting dented in so this was wonderful I was able to leave the lamp out.

This is what it looks like. It's feels and looks like putty but it has a little more stickiness to it than ordinary putty. This is what I use for under the baskets. That's all it takes.

This stuff is pretty cheap.  I only paid less than $4 on Amazon (click on image for link).

I have only used a small part of this for the things I use it on .
